The NFL Combine hasn’t even begun, and former LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell is already looking like a lock for one of the top options in this year’s draft, most recently earning an invite to the 2025 NFL Draft.
Former LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell earns one of just 8-10 invites for 2025 NFL Draft
The days of disappointed draft attendees might finally be over.
At the end of the day, there’s no way to say 100 percent how the 1st round of any given NFL draft might go. In turn, there will always be a gamble in attending the NFL draft as a player, particularly for those with high hopes of being drafted on day one.
Players such as Titans quarterback Will Levis, who fell to pick No. 33, or Lions safety Brian Branch, who fell to No. 45 (both in 2023), are just two of the most recent examples who accepted the invite, and ultimately faced long evenings as their stock fell all the way into the second day of the draft.
All that said, after hosting 21 players as recently as 2022, it appears they might be looking to narrow down the possibility of those tough evenings for players. While we don’t yet have a confirmed number, NFL insider, Jordan Schultz, has revealed that the NFL is being much more selective for this year’s draft.
Continuing their trend of narrowing the list of invitees, the NFL will reportedly invite just 8-10 players in 2025, and former LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell is notably right up near the top of priorities.
A 6-foot-6, 323-pound offensive lineman out of Monroe, LA, it didn’t take long for Will Campbell to enter his name into the discussion of top offensive tackles to take the field for LSU.
Earning the starting left tackle spot from the moment he stepped into Tiger Stadium for his first game as a Tiger, the three-year starter would go on to play 1,687 snaps in his first two seasons with the program, allowing just three sacks during that stretch. From there, he would earn captain honors in both his sophomore and junior season.
Now, the talented offensive lineman will officially bring that elite combination of leadership and skillset to the NFL, where, he has more than enough potential to become an immediate impact player for his future franchise.
Currently projected as the No. 2 offensive tackle, according to the CBS Sports Draft Rankings, as well as the No. 6 overall player in the 2025 NFL Draft, don’t expect Campbell to be sitting around and waiting long on Thursday, April 24.
As of right now, just one day ahead of the 2025 NFL Combine, the early favorite to land Campbell’s talents are the Patriots. Possessing the No. 4 overall selection, and a significant need for offensive linemen, the talented three-year LSU starter would almost certainly walk in and snag one of the two New England tackle spots. Outside the Patriots, it could also be worth keeping an eye on the Chicago Bears, or even Miami Dolphins as possible landing spots.
The 2025 NFL Draft will take place from Thursday, April 24, through Saturday, April 26, in Green Bay, WI, and will be available to watch live on NFL Network, ABC and ESPN.
