The LSU football transfer portal class has officially landed its 15th commitment of the 2025 cycle, as tight end Donovan Green will make his way over from Texas A&M.

Texas A&M tight end Donovan Green announces transfer commitment to LSU football

The No. 1 transfer portal class in the country just got a little bit better today.

Heading into the 2024-25 offseason, Brian Kelly announced that the Tigers would be “aggressive” with the December transfer portal period residing just around the corner. Still, having finished with the 43rd best group in the country just last season, it was just a question of what exactly “aggressive” would do for the veteran head coach.

Now, as we find ourselves 11 days removed from the 2024 calendar year, it’s safe to say that Kelly knew what he was doing.

Saturday afternoon, the purple and gold landed their 15th portal commitment of the cycle, as former Texas A&M tight end Donovan Green announced his commitment to the No. 1 group in the college football transfer portal class of 2025.

Standing at 6-foot-5, 265 pounds, Donovan Green brings an impressive frame to an already massive LSU football tight end group, led by rising 6-foot-7 sophomore Trey’Dez Green and 6-foot-4 transfer addition Bauer Sharp.

A former four-star recruit, and the No. 116 player in the class of 2022, according to 247Sports, Green hasn’t exactly lived up to his blue chip rating coming out of high school, but he’s at the very least shown flashes, particularly during his true freshman season, when he recorded 22 receptions, for 233 yards and two touchdowns in 2022.

Furthermore, with two years of eligibility remaining, Donovan Green has an opportunity to grow with this Tiger offense, working his way onto the field as a solid depth piece for a Brian Kelly led roster that loves to utilize the tight end as much as possible, particularly on third down.

The LSU football transfer portal class of 2025 now ranks as the No. 1 group nationally, as well as No. 1 in the SEC, with 15 total commitments.
