The LSU football recruiting class of 2026 seems to just keep getting better, as four-star defensive lineman Richard Anderson most recently saw a boost into the top 30 nationally in the latest On3 Recruiting Rankings update.
LSU defensive lineman commitment Richard Anderson leaps into top 30 following latest rankings update
It’s not often you find a high school player as physically gifted as four-star class of 2026 defensive lineman Richard Anderson.
Officially listed as a 6-foot-3, 340 pound defensive lineman, he already has ideal size for your prototypical college-level nose tackle. If anything, that just makes it even scarier when you consider the fact that the Edna Karr standout still has one more year of high school football before he ultimately makes his way to Baton Rouge for his freshman season.
After putting together a stellar junior season in 2024 that included 44 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 18 quarterback hurries, two interceptions and a touchdown, it’s safe to say the big man out of New Orleans, LA, is quickly emerging as a top player in high school football, and his ranking on the national scene is finally beginning to display it.
Earlier this week, On3 updated their recruiting rankings for the class of 2026, and while several future Tigers saw a jump in their rating, none saw as notable a leap as that of Richard Anderson, who now ranks as the No. 29 player nationally, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, as well as No. 1 among fellow defensive linemen.
With his jump into the top 30, he’s quickly inserted himself into the discussion for a potential five-star rating down the line. Furthermore, this update has given the state of Louisiana an excellent shot at having three five-star recruits in the current cycle, a feat it hasn’t achieved since the class of 2016 with cornerback Kristian Fulton, defensive lineman Rashard Lawrence and defensive lineman Ed Alexander.
Following the latest update in the On3 Recruiting Rankings, head coach Brian Kelly has the future looking bright for LSU football, as the Tigers currently sit strong as the No. 1 group nationally, sitting just in front of USC, Oregon, Texas A&M and Alabama, respectively.
