LSU football legend Ryan Clark was one of the many elite defensive backs in Tiger history. Now, his son, Jordan Clark may have a chance to head back home and do something similar, as the former Arizona State cornerback has entered the transfer portal.

In five seasons with Arizona State, cornerback Jordan Clark was fantastic, consistently giving the Sun Devils consistently elite play in the defensive backfield. The fifth-year senior out of Baton Rouge wasn’t the highest rated recruit, but that didn’t stop him from making a strong impact at the power five level.

Coming out of high school, he was listed as a three-star in the class of 2019, according to 247 Sports, and was just the No. 18 player out of Louisiana. Whether he was interested or not, he never got much attention from his home town LSU football program, but that didn’t stop him from making a name for himself.

Throughout his Arizona State career, Jordan Clark amassed 139 tackles, 17 passes defended and three interceptions. Notably, his tackle total increased every year, finishing the 2023 season with 50.

Still, after spending the last five years in Tempe, he’s decided that it’s time for a change of scenery. Heading into the 2024 season, he has officially entered the transfer portal.

The star cornerback will likely have his choice of school heading into this next season. Interestingly enough, even after taking five transfer defensive backs last season, it wouldn’t surprise to see coach Brian Kelly at least contact the son of LSU football legend Ryan Clark.

One of the biggest weaknesses on the team in 2023 happened to be cornerback, purely because of a lack of depth. By week 13, the Tigers found themselves starting predominantly freshmen at the position, due to injuries and other off-field issues.

Bringing in a veteran such as Jordan Clark could be beyond beneficial for the team heading into coach Kelly’s third season with the program. For now, we wait and see if the connection ends up happening over the coming weeks.
