Continuing his push for the No. 1 transfer portal class in college football, Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers are now set to host former Texas A&M tight end Donovan Green for a visit this weekend.
LSU football expected to host former Texas A&M tight end Donovan Green for a visit this weekend
It’s been a quiet week or so for the LSU football transfer portal efforts, but in true college football fashion, that doesn’t necessarily mean things aren’t happening at a rapid pace behind the scenes.
Several players throughout the country remain uncommitted and searching for their future home. In turn, Brian Kelly continues his search for more players to add to his 2025 roster, and despite the December portal period having ended over a week ago, he doesn’t appear to be struggling to find more impact additions.
One such player that LSU holds steady in the hunt for is former Texas A&M tight end Donovan Green, who most recently was reported to have an upcoming visit to Baton Rouge scheduled for this weekend.
A former four-star recruit in the class of 2022, the 6-foot-4, 245-pound pass catcher is currently unrated, according to the 247Sports Transfer Rankings, but this might not be a true representation of what exactly he could bring to his next team in 2025.
Appearing in 10 games at tight end during his three seasons with the Aggies, Green recorded 22 receptions, for 233 yards and two touchdowns, all of which came during his true freshman season in 2022.
Curious enough, with his upcoming visit with LSU football, it’s notable to mention that the Dickinson, TX, product actually had one of the best games of his career against the Bayou Bengals, recording two receptions for 13 yards and a touchdown against Brian Kelly and his squad to end the 2022 season.
While it’s still early in his transfer portal recruitment, Houston, LSU and West Virginia appear to be the top initial candidates to land the big-bodied tight end.
If he ultimately sticks with the Tigers following his upcoming visit, he’d be joining a room that already includes returning sophomore Trey’Dez Green and transfer addition Bauer Sharp out of Oklahoma. While it wouldn’t be an impossible road to seeing the field, he very well could provide some excellent depth, giving the purple and gold one of the best tight end rooms in all of college football.
