The LSU football coaching staff received some encouraging news Thursday afternoon, as class of 2026 four-star safety Ayden Pouncey included the Tigers on his list of top 10 schools remaining in his recruitment.

Secondary coach Corey Raymond has been putting in some serious work since he made the move back to LSU from Florida last offseason, and it once again appears to be showing up strongest on the recruiting trail.

In the 2025 cycle, the Tigers landed several of the top defensive backs in both recruiting, as well as the transfer portal. That includes five-star rising freshman DJ Pickett, four-star rising freshman Aidan Anding, former Virginia Tech cornerback Mansoor Delane, former Florida cornerback Jaā€™Keem Jackson and former NC State safety Tamarcus Cooley.

Important to note, is that each of the players mentioned above could, and should make an impact in 2025. In short, the rebuild of this purple and gold defense appears to be going as smoothly as one could hope.

Now, as we make the shift over to the class of 2026, Raymond is once again making pushes towards the top talent in the country, and thus far, heā€™s leaving his mark, as four-star safety Ayden Pouncey became the latest to include LSU among his top schools early Thursday afternoon.

Officially listed as a 6-foot-3, 175-pound safety out of Winter Park, FL, Pouncey has everything you could want out of your deep safety, including elite length, speed and ball skills, making him a dangerous ball hawk when given the opportunity.

Ranking No. 130 nationally, according to 247Sports, as well as No. 13 at his position, Pouncey has set himself up incredibly well to enter his senior season as one of the top players not only in the state of Florida, but in the entire country for the class of 2026.

Outside of LSU, his current list of top recruitment contenders includes a variety of programs throughout the eastern side of the United States, including Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Syracuse and UCF.
