Continuing their push for many of the top recruits in the class of 2026, LSU football is now expected to host Louisiana-based five-star inside offensive lineman Lamar Brown at its Junior Day next weekend.
LSU football recruiting expected to host five-star IOL Lamar Brown for next weekend’s Junior Day
It’s a tale as old as time. The best in Louisiana play for LSU.
Okay, maybe this isn’t always the case, but head coach Brian Kelly is at the very least doing everything he can to make it happen, and for the most part, he’s generally been able to succeed since taking over as the head man in Baton Rouge.
During his first cycle in 2022, despite not having a full year to work with, the former Notre Dame coach managed to snag signatures from four of the top 10 players in the state, and even brought in a fifth through the transfer portal just one season later (wide receiver Aaron Anderson).
In 2023, it became clear that he was starting to get his feet under him, signing five of the top 10 players in Louisiana, before landing nine in the class of 2024 and again five in 2025.
Now, as we look ahead to the class of 2026, it’s once again all hands on deck, as the purple and gold have gotten off to a hot start within their own state borders, already landing five players from the Boot, with the expectation that several more will follow suit in the coming year.
As Brian Kelly continues those efforts, we’re not far from getting a glimpse at just how successful he can be, as some major recruiting weekends are officially just around the corner.
Among those recruiting weekends is the Tiger Junior Day, which annually plays host to many of the top players nationally, with five-star offensive lineman Lamar Brown already set to headline this year’s group of visitors.
Officially listed as a 6-foot-4, 275-pound inside offensive lineman out of Baton Rouge, LA, Brown won’t have to travel far to pop in for the weekend recruiting visit on LSU’s campus.
For Brian Kelly and the purple and gold, this is an obvious edge up on their competition for the talented lineman’s talents, and it’s likely one that they will look to take full advantage of over the course of this next year or so.
Rated as the No. 6 player nationally, according to 247Sports, as well as the No. 1 player in Louisiana, there are very few players in all of high school football who come anywhere close to the University Lab standout as an all-around prospect.
Possessing the ability to play either side of the ball, Brown appears to play angrier than most, constantly pancaking opposing defenders, while also chasing opposing quarterbacks and running backs down to force a loss of yardage. In short, he has a rare form of versatility that will likely get him on the field as a freshman, regardless of where he ends up for school.
While it will undoubtedly be a long battle before the five-star inside offensive lineman ultimately makes that final decision, this next weekend’s visit to campus will be a big one, as LSU looks to do some work after his trip to Tulane just one week prior.
The LSU football class of 2026 currently rates as the No. 7 group nationally, as well as No. 4 in the SEC, with six total commitments.
