In an effort to continue building on an encouraging 2024 defensive output, LSU football head coach Brian Kelly is now expected to bring former Miami defensive coordinator Lance Guidry on as a 2025 defensive analyst.
Brian Kelly, LSU football expected to add former Miami defensive coordinator Lance Guidry as a defensive analyst
Who ever said the phrase “The best in Louisiana play for LSU,” had to be reserved for players?
Building on a much improved defensive performance in 2024, LSU football is once again looking to build its defensive coaching staff, and they’re notably going after some pretty big names. As a matter of fact, coming off a season in which Miami was well within reach of the ACC Championship, the Tigers elected to go after their defensive coordinator, as Louisiana native, Lance Guidry, is expected to join Blake Baker and the Tiger defensive coaching staff for the 2025 season.
Recently viewed as one of the best up-and-coming defensive coaches in college football, Lance Guidry has seen just about every level of the college game, having made stops at McNeese State, Southeastern Louisiana, Miami (OH), Western Kentucky, Marshall and most recently Miami, among many others.
However, coming off a rough two years with the Hurricanes, many viewed defensive concerns as the primary issue in Miami’s inability to have made the college football playoff in 2024, and Guidry was ultimately let go from the program on December 31, 2024.
Now, the veteran coach is looking for a bounce back, and what better way to do so, than returning home to Louisiana?
Expected to take on a defensive analyst position within the LSU football program, Lance Guidry now has an opportunity to learn from his mistakes, while simultaneously spending time with one of the best young coaches in the SEC, defensive coordinator Blake Baker.
If the hire ultimately goes through, the Welsh, LA, product will join a purple and gold defensive coaching staff that includes the likes of Baker, defensive line coach Bo Davis, edge rushers coach Kevin Peoples, secondary coach Corey Raymond, safeties coach Jake Olsen, along with several more analysts.
