As the 2025 recruiting cycle winds down, the class of 2026 is slowly picking up, and the LSU football coaching staff has taken advantage of their extended offseason, most recently offering four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson, out of Mansfield, TX.
Wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton, LSU football extend offer to class of 2026 wide receiver Zion Robinson
The 2024 college football season may have only just now come to its official close, but for Brian Kelly and his coaching staff, the offseason has been well under way for nearly a full month. In turn, the Tigers have been busy on the trail, signing 23 rising freshmen and 16 transfers over the last couple of months.
While the 2025 cycle is still technically in motion, Brian Kelly and his staff clearly feel good about their roster heading into the 2025 season, as things are slowly beginning to shift towards the class of 2026. In turn, we’re seeing quite the flow of offers going out to many of the top recruits in the upcoming cycle, with top-200 wide receiver Zion Robinson being the latest to receive such an offer.
Rated as a four-star recruit, and the No. 85 player in the country, according to 247Sports, Robinson has quickly risen as one of the top players in the class of 2026, thanks in large part to his combination of ideal size and athleticism at the wide receiver position.
Recording 936 yards and 14 touchdowns on 67 receptions over the last two seasons combined, he’s proven to be quite the deep threat for Mansfield High School, averaging nearly 14 yards per reception.
Not only is Robinson a star on the gridiron, but the wide receiver out of Mansfield, TX, is a proven talent in both basketball, and track and field. Furthermore, considering his father – Khadevis Robinson – was a two-time Olympic qualifier in the 800m, it’s safe to say he has at least some natural athleticism.
While it’s largely too early in the class of 2026 recruiting cycle to say 100 percent who the leaders might be for the four-star pass catcher, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M appear to be among the earliest candidates to make a strong push for his eventual commitment.
As of Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the LSU football class of 2026 ranks No. 7 nationally, according to 247Sports, as well as No. 4 in the SEC, with six total commitments. Four-star Louisiana product Kenny Darby is currently the lone pass catcher committed in the upcoming cycle, but it can be expected that Brian Kelly and LSU football will take at least two other wide receivers before things are all said and done.
