Only just beginning the 2026 recruiting cycle, LSU football already appears to be sitting in a good spot with one of the top recruits in the class of 2027, as Louisiana-based four-star tight end Ahmad Hudson has most recently been predicted to eventually land with the purple and gold.

LSU receives class of 2027 expert prediction for top-rated Louisiana-based tight end Ahmad Hudson

Former three-star tight end Mason Taylor is officially headed to the NFL, and for the first time since Brian Kelly first joined the purple and gold in Baton Rouge, LA, there’s a slight feeling of uncertainty as far as the tight end position is concerned.

Important to note, the uncertainty doesn’t exactly lie within the present. After all, star freshman Trey’Dez Green scored two touchdowns the last time he touched the field for LSU football, and has since moved on to balling out on the hardwood.

However, when you start looking forward to the next few seasons, there’s always the question of “what’s next,” and as of Tuesday afternoon, it appears that “what’s next,” might already reside in the great state of Louisiana.

Despite having only just started with the 2026 recruiting cycle, Brian Kelly already appears to have his football team trending for one of the top players in the entire class of 2027. Early Tuesday afternoon, On3 recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong most recently predicted four-star tight end Ahmad Hudson to ultimately stay in-state and attend LSU football in two years.

Officially listed at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds, Ahmad Hudson first received an offer from the Tigers all the way back in August 26, 2023, so there’s nothing new about this recruitment as far as the purple and gold are concerned.

As a matter of fact, they’ve technically been recruiting the talented Ruston, LA, standout since the start of his freshman year of high school.

In other words, LSU had a feeling Hudson could be special, and now, with him ranking as the No. 10 player nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite, it already looks like their gamble has paid off.

With the Tigers trending in a very positive direction for the Louisiana-based blue chip recruit, Brian Kelly appears well on his way towards soon landing his first commitment of the class of 2027 recruiting cycle. Whether it ends up being Ahmad Hudson, or not, is yet to be seen, but if anything, it’s encouraging to know that the early interest seems to have left an impact as the program looks continue recruiting the Boot at an elite level under this current coaching staff.
