Following a widely successful first season under coach Brian Kelly, it’s safe to say LSU faithful are excited for what the future may have in store. As if fans weren’t giddy enough, quarterback Jayden Daniels has seemingly taken it upon himself to create the best bulletin board material of the offseason. Can LSU football win a national championship this season? Daniels seems to think so, and it doesn’t appear he’s willing to negotiate.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels wants to win a national championship for his final season with LSU football

The ultimate goal in college football is to win a national championship with your team. The last time LSU football achieved this accomplishment was back in 2019, with now NFL stars like Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson on the roster. While this year’s team isn’t necessarily a favorite to win it all, it’s not impossible to imagine.

Recently, in an interview with Pro Football Focus, Daniels made his plans for the season abundantly clear. Jayden Daniels wants to win a national championship. He has unfinished business with his team, which was one of the big reasons for returning to Baton Rouge for his fifth and final college season.

If Daniels and LSU football can find a way to win it all this year, Tiger faithful would be on cloud nine. Following their national championship run in 2019, the Tigers would combine for just 11 wins over the next two seasons. Brian Kelly has made it clear he doesn’t view this as a rebuild. If he finds a way to improve on the 10-win season he experienced in his first season with the program, it will become wildly challenging to have any doubts heading into the future.

What led Daniels to Baton Rouge?

The 2023 season will be the final one of Jayden Daniels’ college career. He spent his first three seasons with the Arizona State football team before transferring to LSU for his last two years of eligibility. He found success at Arizona State, but nothing compared to this past season with the Tigers.

In three years in Tempe, AZ, Daniels recorded 7,312 yards and 45 touchdowns. While Daniels found individual success, for the most part, the team combined for 18 total wins over those three seasons. Daniels wanted more, and he’s found it in LSU football.

In one season with LSU football, Daniels recorded 3,798 yards and 28 touchdowns. Even more impressive, he brought the Tigers to the SEC Championship in his first year with the team. Will he find a way to win the SEC Championship in 2023? What about the national championship? Only time will tell, but Jayden Daniels seems confident in his ability to make it happen for LSU football.
