Earlier today, coach Brian Kelly and LSU football landed their eighth defensive commitment of the class of 2025 cycle, with five-star cornerback DJ Pickett becoming the latest to join the party.
Cornerback DJ Pickett gives LSU football its third five-star commitment of the cycle
Here comes Corey Raymond.
After a relatively slow start to the class of 2025 recruiting cycle as far as the defensive back room is concerned, the Tigers have now most recently landed a commitment from five-star cornerback DJ Pickett and have immense momentum in that position room.
Officially listed as the No. 3 player nationally and the No. 1 cornerback in the class of 2025, according to On3, Pickett immediately gives the LSU football recruiting class not only an elite defensive presence, but also a second top-three player nationally â joining No. 1 overall quarterback Bryce Underwood.
Interestingly enough, todayâs commitment couldnât come at a better time for the purple and gold. Having just received a decommitment from Louisiana-based four-star cornerback Jaboree Antoine, Pickett has now made himself the lone defensive back commitment of the cycle.
Standing at 6-foot-4, 179 pounds, the Zephyrhills, FL, product has elite length for a player at the cornerback position, and has the kind of versatility that will immediately upgrade the Tiger secondary. A current star for Zephyrhills High School, Pickett has recorded 94 tackles, three tackles for loss, seven interceptions (three of which have been returned for touchdowns), eight passes defended, three fumble recoveries and a sack.
Having picked coach Brian Kelly and his program over fellow national powers Miami and Oregon the Florida-based cornerback is now one of eight blue chip defensive commitments for the purple and gold and resides as the top rated in the group.
