Every year, the best quarterback prospects in the country meet up and compete at the Elite 11 Finals. This year, one of the competitors was class of 2024 LSU football QB commit Colin Hurley. He was the youngest invitee but had some big moments throughout the week.

LSU football QB commit Colin Hurley can sling it with the best of them

With the Elite 11 Finals come and gone, LSU football fans are likely wondering how their future quarterback performed. Alabama commit Julian Sayin won MVP, but Hurley had some big moments of his own.

The event began with drills and simple passing, so it should come as little surprise that Colin Hurley shined throughout. He looked smooth, throwing accurate pass after accurate pass, showing his consistency as a passer.

Where Hurley really shined, though, was in the 7-on-7 competition. Each quarterback had four drives to show what he could do, and Hurley finished the day with four touchdowns on 13-for-17 passing.

With efficiency like that, he gave Tiger fans plenty to be excited about for the LSU football QB commit. Having reclassified from the class of 2025 to the class of 2024, he’s incredibly young.

Still, he more than showed that he could hang with the old guys, as there wasn’t a throw he couldn’t make. The ball was almost always right on the money, whether it was a short slant or a deep ball over a defender’s hands.

The quarterback room in Baton Rouge will be one of the best in the country for years

Not long ago, fans couldn’t really care less who would be starting for them at quarterback. It’s not necessarily because LSU football was bad at the position, but rather, they’ve always had a very run-heavy offense.

Something has changed in the water, though, as the Tiger quarterback room looks like one of the best in the country. Everyone knows Jayden Daniels, the starter who transferred to LSU before the 2022 season.

Don’t forget about the guys behind him, though. Garrett Nussmeier, for instance, could start at just about any program in the country if he wanted to. Still, he stayed in Baton Rouge and will likely be the starter next season.

Finally, freshman Rickie Collins and class of 2024 Colin Hurley appear to be the future. Both being considered four-star quarterbacks in high school, they each have the tools and talent to be stars in college.

The quarterback room competition is going to be elite this coming fall as well as into the future. A new era is hitting Baton Rouge, and it should be fun to watch over the years to come.
