Just one day following the announcement of the men’s season home and away opponents for the 2024-25 schedule, today was the day for LSU women’s basketball. While we don’t yet have any times or dates to report, the addition of multiple new faces to the SEC immediately adds plenty to keep an eye on as the season slowly approaches.
SEC announces full home and away opponents for 2024-25 LSU women’s basketball season
When it comes to the present era of LSU women’s basketball, every offseason seems to have slightly more anticipation than the last, thanks in large part to head coach Kim Mulkey and the 2023 National Championship.
In turn, while we don’t yet know any times or dates for next season’s 2024-25 schedule, the release of SEC home and away opponents gives fans a taste of what they can expect to see in Baton Rouge this coming winter.
For obvious reasons, one of the immediate schedule notes to pop out is the addition of Oklahoma and Texas. Interestingly enough, with their addition to the SEC this coming school year, the Tigers have an excellent opportunity coming up in the near future.
Having fallen to both the Longhorns and Sooners in each of the most recent matchups (2017 and 2019 respectively), coach Kim Mulkey is likely looking forward to potentially putting a mark on the win column for those games. LSU women’s basketball will host Oklahoma, while traveling to Texas for an away game.
Aside from the new additions, some other things to be aware of are that the purple and gold will both host and travel to Tennessee while facing a fairly challenging away schedule. They’ll travel to the Volunteers, Alabama and South Carolina, all of which finished in the top-five of the SEC this past season.
While we don’t yet know the times or dates of these specific matchups, expect them to be announced later this offseason.
