Just like that, LSU basketball recruiting is off and running with its class of 2024. Today, coach Matt McMahon landed a big-time commitment as four-star power forward Robert Miller III is officially a Tiger.

LSU basketball recruiting lands commitment from class of 2024 four-star Robert Miller III

September was setting up to be a big month for LSU basketball recruiting, and it has not disappointed. Already, heading into this weekend, the Tigers have several top-100 recruits visiting Baton Rouge.

Even better, though, as the weekend is about to begin, coach Matt McMahon just landed his first commitment for the class of 2024. Friday morning, four-star power forward Robert Miller III announced he will play for LSU basketball.

Miller III is one of the best recruits in the entire class of 2024, ranking No. 40 overall, according to On3. Furthermore, he’s one of the best in Texas, ranking No. 2 in the entire state.

Miller III described the program as a “family environment”

One of the more notable aspects of Robert Miller III committing to the Tigers is the fact that he’s a legacy recruit. In the 1990s, his father, Robert Miller, attended LSU and played for the football program.

Now, the younger Miller has an opportunity to create his own legacy as he prepares to play for the basketball program. When discussing the commitment with Joe Tipton of On3, he described the program in very high regard, saying, “The LSU coaching staff has been really consistent in proving that they wanted me a part of their program and overall it’s just a family environment.”

The elite power forward has both the size and talent to make his mark on the school. Standing at 6-foot-10, 225 pounds, he has incredible athleticism, practically jumping through the roof when near the basket.

For coach Matt McMahon, it’s hard to imagine a better start to the LSU basketball recruiting class of 2024. The Tigers now sit at No. 22 in the country and could make some noise with several top recruits visiting campus in the near future.
