After being listed as the projected No. 2 team in college baseball Monday afternoon, Tiger fans received more good news ahead of the 2025 season, as LSU baseball transfer portal additions Daniel Dickinson and Anthony Eyanson were recently listed as Perfect Game Preseason All-Americans.

Two LSU baseball transfer portal additions named to Perfect Game Preseason All-American list

Former Utah Valley infielder Daniel Dickinson expected to make immediate impact in Baton Rouge

There’s no shortage of new faces to know for LSU baseball ahead of their 2025 season, but it was for good reason. After losing nine players to the 2024 MLB Draft, there were plenty of slots to fill throughout the roster, and head coach Jay Johnson did so through both elite recruiting efforts and a dominant transfer portal period.

While there could be as many as double-digit new additions who ultimately leave their mark on the 2025 season, two players in particular have stood out from a national perspective, as the Tigers had multiple transfer commits make the latest list of Perfect Game Preseason All-Americans.

Getting things started was none other than Daniel Dickinson, a standout junior out of Utah Valley, who was rated as the No. 2 overall transfer in the 2024 cycle.

Standing at 6-foot, 180 pounds, the talented infielder from Richland, WA is entering his first season with the purple and gold as an expected starter, and – at least according to this preseason projection list – a future star.

In his two seasons with the Wolverines over in Utah, Dickinson put up some serious numbers, posting a career batting average of .369, to go along with 14 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs, 53 RBIs and 32 stolen bases during the 2024 season.

Over the offseason, Dickinson continued this pursuit for a standout junior season by competing alongside the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod Baseball League. While it wasn’t quite up to his lofty projections, he showed plenty of flashes of why so many are excited to see what he can do against SEC competition. As a part of the Mariners, he logged a .205 batting average, .350 on-base percentage and 17 total hits in 24 game appearances.

Expect Daniel Dickinson to step into the LSU baseball lineup almost immediately, working alongside Michael Braswell III, Steven Milam and Jared Jones to form one of the toughest infields in college baseball.

Former UC San Diego right-handed pitcher Anthony Eyanson projected as one of the top starting pitchers in college baseball

Speaking of losing a lot to the 2024 MLB Draft, it’s pretty safe to say that the most concerning group heading into this past offseason was the pitching staff, as eight out of their nine draftees all came from that exact spot on the roster.

Still, trust in head coach Jay Johnson, and things will generally go well, and that is exactly what Tiger fans witnessed over the last year or so.

Bringing in an eye-popping 11 new pitchers to their bullpen – seven of which are transfers – the purple and gold pitching staff is set to look completely different from last season, and this might actually be a bonus for the way things go in 2025.

One player in particular who could play a major factor in this is Anthony Eyanson, a right-handed pitcher out of UC San Diego, and the second Tiger to make an appearance on the list of Perfect Game Preseason All-Americans.

A 6-foot-2, 195-pound junior out of Lakewood, CA, Eyanson joins the Bayou Bengals as the No. 4 overall transfer in the class of 2024, and should be viewed as an immediate candidate for one of the three main starting pitcher spots for the upcoming 2025 season.

Selected as an All-Big West Second-Teamer in 2024, the impressive right-handed pitcher was spectacular in his second season of collegiate baseball, recording a full season ERA of 3.07, throwing 85 strikeouts in 82.0 innings pitched. Furthermore, after allowing just two home runs, and a .190 batting average this past season, he’s made it very clear that it’s not an easy task to get solid contact against him, which could prove highly beneficial in the SEC, where there are no shortage of sluggers.

While there’s still over a month until the 2025 LSU baseball season ultimately gets started, Daniel Dickinson and Anthony Eyanson have both placed themselves in an excellent position to leave their mark on Alex Box Stadium in their first seasons in Baton Rouge, LA.

The purple and gold will get their season going on Friday, February 14, 2025, as they’ll host Purdue Fort Wayne for a three-game weekend series. The games will take place in Alex Box Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA, and will all be played in the early afternoon, drawing start times of 2:00, 1:00 and 1:00 p.m. CT, respectively.
