If there’s one position on the LSU football team that could use a little bit more love, it would be kicker. While Damian Ramos was solid for the Tigers in 2022, coach Brian Kelly likely wouldn’t be opposed to having multiple options at the position. That’s precisely why class of 2024 three-star LSU football commit Aeron Burrell could prove to be one of the most important players in the class.
Three-star LSU football commit Aeron Burrell is one of the top commits in the class of 2024
When thinking about the top players in the LSU football class of 2024, most people might think of top four-stars Trey’Dez Green or Dashawn McBryde.
Well, what if I told you that the best player in the class is ranked No. 18 out of their 18 commits?
Three-star LSU football commit Aeron Burrell is a kicker based out of Bossier City, LA. While the three-star rating or the No. 1,649 overall ranking might scare some people off, it really shouldn’t.
According to 247 Sports, he’s not only one of the best players at his position, but he’s the best. Burrell ranks as the No. 1 kicker in the country and the No. 52 player in Louisiana.
This is fantastic news for coach Brian Kelly and the LSU football team. He brings the kind of leg to the Tigers that could make an immediate impact and even start for them.
Burrell doesn’t shy away from the big moments
When looking at kickers, three main traits generally determine how good they can be. There’s leg strength, accuracy and steadiness.
Strength and accuracy are pretty self-explanatory. However, steadiness might be the most important out of the three. They can have the strongest and most accurate leg in the world, but even the best kickers can shrink if they don’t have steadiness and confidence when the lights are shining brightest.
Three-star LSU football commit Aeron Burrell is ready for the big moment. You can almost see the chip on his shoulder when watching him on the field. This past season, his team was in a tied game with two seconds remaining. They called his number to kick a 50-yard field goal.
He knocked it through with ease and probably would have made it from five yards back.
For LSU football, this is the exact kind of player they’ve been looking for at the kicker position. If he can continue to play at a high level and improve consistently, he should be a star in the purple and gold.
