The LSU class of 2025 has officially landed its second Texas-based commitment along the defensive interior, as defensive lineman Dilan Battle announced his pledge earlier this afternoon.

Defensive lineman Dilan Battle announces commitment to LSU class of 2025 over several national powerhouses

Winning football more often than not starts in the trenches, and after last season’s rough defensive performance, Brian Kelly is looking to make sure that’s something his program never forgets. In turn, he looked to Texas defensive line coach Bo Davis to help turn things around, and so far on the recruiting trail, things are certainly trending in a positive direction.

Already in the LSU class of 2025, the purple and gold have officially landed commitments from five players along the defensive interior, including defensive linemen Zion Williams and Brandon Brown, blue chip edge rushers La Jesse Harrold and Damien Shanklin as well as defensive lineman Dilan Battle, who announced his pledge earlier this afternoon.

Officially listed as a 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive lineman out of Arlington, TX, Battle rates as a three-star recruit and the No. 569 player nationally, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Furthermore, having logged 27 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks and a forced fumble during his junior campaign, the No. 53 defensive lineman in the class of 2025 displays surprising get-off at the point of attack, but it’s his run stuffing prowess that really impresses from a future outlook standpoint.

Battle ultimately chose to join the purple and gold over several of the top programs nationally, including Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon and Penn State.

The LSU class of 2025 now ranks No. 3 nationally, as well as No. 2 in the SEC with 22 total commitments.
