After first committing to join the Tigers nearly six full months ago, five-star LSU football quarterback commitment Bryce Underwood appears to be holding strong with his pledge, most recently explaining the thought process behind his early commitment and his goals for once he gets on campus.

It’s not often you see a kid from Michigan end up in Baton Rouge, LA, as the top rated recruit for the Tigers. Even so, for LSU football quarterback commitment Bryce Underwood, there was never really any doubt about where he thought he might end up for his time in college.

“Honestly, LSU has been my dream school since I was 12 or 13,” the five-star Belleville High School product explained while speaking with Shea Dixon of On3 earlier this week. “Me having an opportunity to see what the whole hype is about … just going there and actually visiting, seeing what I’d have in store for possibly the next four years of my life. That was probably the moment I realized that this is it.”

When the 6-foot-4, 214-pound signal caller out of Belleville, MI, first announced his commitment to the purple and gold, it immediately started to gain traction as one of the most impactful landings for the Tigers in program history.

Rated as a five-star recruit and the No. 1 player nationally, according to both On3 and 247Sports, he has some pretty high expectations ahead of his senior season, and it’s for good reason. While he’s primarily known for his arm – having thrown for 3,329 yards and 41 touchdowns, compared to just three interceptions – he’s surprisingly mobile, even drawing comparisons to most recent LSU Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels at times.

Even so, don’t expect the five-star quarterback to put up too many crazy numbers as far as the ground game goes. Underwood is a pass-first quarterback, and it’s a big reason why so many hold the talented recruit in such high a regard. For now, it’s just a matter of continuing to work at his craft so he can potentially achieve some more lofty goals that he’s placed for himself over the next few years of football.

“My main goal is to be the No. 1 draft pick in the NFL and to be a Hall of Famer as well as that,” he continued. “So, I’m going to keep those main goals in my head the entire time.”

The LSU football quarterback commitment has expressed interest in enrolling early with the Tigers, which would mean he’s as little as six months away from arriving on campus in Baton Rouge as he starts to work his way into the purple and gold depth chart under head coach Brian Kelly. Until then, it will just be a matter of keeping an eye on National Signing Day later this year as Tiger fans anxiously await the arrival of the star signal caller.
