No team has been more dominant at recruiting their own state than LSU football in the 2024 class. Already, they have seven of the top 10 recruits in the state committed to play college ball in Baton Rouge. Now, they look to complete the top 10 by sealing the deal with cornerback Wardell Mack, linebacker Tylen Singleton and defensive lineman Dominick McKinley.

LSU football named a finalist for four-star cornerback Wardell Mack

For many of these recruitments, making a list of finalists is the first step in gaining a commitment. At the end of the day, college football is a brand of entertainment, and recruits understand that.

So, when many prospects narrow their list, they typically release a list of four-eight schools deemed “finalists.” Recently, the Tigers received fantastic news for the class of 2024, making the top four for cornerback Wardell Mack.

This is huge for LSU football looking to lock down Louisiana. Not only is Mack one of the top players in the state, but in the country. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Mack is the No. 70 player nationally and the No. 7 cornerback.

Becoming somewhat of a trend; it’s looking like this recruiting battle could come down to either Texas or LSU. Texas has been one of the Tigers’ primary rivals on the recruiting trail throughout the class of 2024, and this is proving to be no different.

The Tiger football team using Twitter and hashtags to recruit four-star linebacker, Tylen Singleton

When practically an entire team posts a hashtag on Twitter for you, it’s safe to say you’re a priority. If you’ve been scrolling through Twitter over the last few hours, chances are you’ve seen an LSU football player or commit post a Tweet with the hashtag “TigersNeedTylen.”

Well, that’s certainly no coincidence, as one of the top uncommitted recruits remaining on the Tigers’ board is none other than four-star linebacker Tylen Singleton.

There’s been quite a variety of players posting the hashtag, from current offensive linemen to committed kickers.

According to 247Sports, Singleton is the No. 150 player nationally and the No. 15 linebacker. The 6-foot-1, 208-pound prospect from Many, LA, is a primary target for the Tigers. Now it’s up to him on whether it’s enough.

Five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley is yet to take his official to Baton Rouge

The No. 1 player in all of Louisiana has yet to take his official visit to Baton Rouge to visit LSU football. Don’t fret, though, as this is likely on purpose.

While the new official visit rules technically allow recruits to take as many official visits as they like, they can only visit each school once. So, this is where strategy begins to play a part.

If you bring a recruit in for an official in early June, you’re making an excellent first impression, but it could wear off. This is likely why Brian Kelly is waiting for later in the recruiting season to bring on four-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley.

It’s also important to note that McKinley has visited the Tigers twice. He visited campus in January and April of this year, allowing him to see Baton Rouge for an unofficial visit.

McKinley is officially listed as the No. 31 player nationally, per 247 Sports, and the No. 7 defensive lineman. Most notable, however, is that he’s ranked No. 1 in all of Louisiana.

If coach Brian Kelly truly wants to lock down the state for the class of 2024, this will be the big one. McKinley is an exceptional talent and could immediately add an elite presence to the defensive interior.

Now, it’s just a matter of sealing the deal for these three elite Louisiana-based recruits.
