While Tiger recruiting over the last few months have largely surrounded the 2025 cycle, things finally appear to be trending towards the future, as LSU football most recently landed a commitment from class of 2026 defensive line target Richard Anderson.

And just like that, the LSU football class of 2026 is off and running.

After receiving a commitment from elite four-star class of 2025 offensive lineman Carius Curne just yesterday, the Tigers are finally starting to see some serious momentum towards their future. Earlier today, big-time Louisiana-based defensive line target Richard Anderson became coach Brian Kellyā€™s first commitment of the class of 2026.

Officially listed at 6-foot-3, 340 pounds, Anderson already possesses college-ready size, and shockingly still has two years of high school eligibility remaining. In turn, he unsurprisingly is already rated among the very best players in his recruiting cycle, sitting as a current four-star and the No. 117 player nationally, according to On3, as well as No. 9 among fellow defensive linemen.

While the purple and gold were largely viewed as the consistent favorites to eventually land his commitment, itā€™s important to note that he was no stranger to some big-time offers throughout his recruitment, having received offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas.

Even despite his high rating nationally, Anderson most notably rests as just the No. 7 player in-state, only further showing just how deep the entire state of Louisiana is as far as the class of 2026 is concerned.

As a sophomore this past season in 2023, Anderson helped Edna Karr (New Orleans, LA) to a 10-2 record, to go along with a trip to the Louisiana Division I state semifinal.
