Coach Brian Kelly is finally starting to see some positive momentum in the class of 2025 recruiting cycle, most recently receiving a commitment from top-50 offensive lineman Carius Curne. Now, less than a day later, the LSU football recruiting program appears to be trending for yet another four-star recruit, as safety CJ Jimcoily included the Tigers among his top-two schools yesterday.

Four-star safety CJ Jimcoily includes LSU football recruiting in his top-two

LSU football recruiting hosted four-star safety CJ Jimcoily just last weekend, and as it would turn out, the talented blue chip recruit enjoyed his time in Baton Rouge, LA.

As a matter of fact, he enjoyed his time so much, that he went ahead and revealed his list of top-two schools on Thursday, telling Shea Dixon of On3 that the purple and gold will likely compete against new ACC program Stanford for his services.

Officially listed as a 6-foot-3, 205-pound safety out of Nashville, TN, Jimcoily ranks among the very best in the country, sitting at No. 368 overall and No. 33 at his position, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Having played cornerback primarily as a junior, the Lipscomb Academy standout didn’t necessarily put up crazy stats by any means, recording just 51 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and an interception in 2023. Even so, his numbers don’t necessarily tell the entire story.

Possessing the flexibility to play just about any position in the defensive backfield, he’ll provide an immediate advantage to whichever team eventually lands him. Additionally, even though he projects more as a safety thanks in large part to his size and willingness to tackle, his experience at cornerback provided some excellent discipline that should allow him to cover deep downfield without fouling in the process.

With LSU and Stanford resting as his current top-two, the talented four-star safety really couldn’t have picked two schools that are more different. Ultimately, this will likely come down to west coast vs. east coast as well as outstanding academics vs. outstanding athletics. Either way, the blue chip recruit can’t go wrong with his options, and it might just come down to a matter of preference.

As of today, June 21, LSU football recruiting has a slight advantage over the Cardinal, with the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine giving the two schools a 20.4 percent and 17.9 percent chance respectively at landing his eventual commitment. For now, the class of 2025 standout is yet to schedule an official commitment date.
