What a day for the LSU football program. Just hours away from their upcoming ReliaQuest Bowl matchup vs. Wisconsin on New Year’s Day, priority Louisiana defensive lineman Dominick McKinley has officially announced his commitment to LSU.

Prior to today’s announcement, the No. 1 player in the state of Louisiana had been committed to Texas A&M since September 1, 2023. Now, as we look ahead to the 2024 year, McKinley elected to switch things up and flip his commitment to the purple and gold.

Ranking No. 27 nationally and No. 6 among defensive linemen, according to the 247Sports Composite, the 6-foot-5, 280-pound recruit is bringing an elite presence to the Tigers and immediately gives the LSU class of 2024 a major boost.

Notably, the Acadiana product still has two official visits lined up in the near future. He’ll head to Baton Rouge on January 12, and Knoxville, TN, a week later on January 19.

With his commitment, coach Brian Kelly’s squad now has 29 commitments and has officially landed nine of the top-10 players in-state. Coach Brian Kelly placed an emphasis on recruiting the Boot, and now, following this five-star addition, he has more than exceeded expectations.
