Five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley hasn’t even enrolled at LSU yet, but he’s already emerging as a household name in the area. Yesterday, April 23, 2024, the LSU football rising freshman signed the first of what is likely to be many local NIL during his career with the purple and gold.
Top rated LSU football rising freshman defensive lineman signs local NIL deal
When five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley signed with the Tigers as a part of the class of 2024, it was big for several reasons.
Not only does he stand at 6-foot-5, 280 pounds, but as the No. 18 player nationally, according to 247Sports, he’s set to walk on campus as one of the highest rated players coach Brian Kelly has signed since first joining the purple and gold back in 2022.
In turn, it should come as little to no surprise that the big-time LSU football rising freshman is already emerging as a household name around Louisiana, especially considering he’s a local product, making his way over from Lafayette, LA.
Now, with just over four months remaining until the start of the 2024 college football season, he’s officially signed the first local NIL deal of his collegiate career.
The deal came courtesy of Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys, a local personal injury lawyer based in Louisiana who is no stranger to Tiger athletics. Among the many athletes he’s signed deals with over the last year or so include sophomore first-baseman Jared Jones, senior outfielder Ciara Briggs, junior forward Aneesah Morrow and junior gymnast Aleah Finnegan.
With this most recent NIL signing, McKinley has received a pretty major boost to his overall On3 NIL Valuation, bringing him all the way up to No. 44 nationally among college football players.
Coming in as the top rated class of 2024 signee for the purple and gold, expect to see plenty from the Acadiana standout early and often. If anything, it’s just a matter of how quickly he can adjust to the college level.
