Before today, coach Brian Kelly had a commitment from one of the most underrated players in the country. Now, he’s still committed but underrated no more. Class of 2024 LSU football wide receiver commit Kylan Billiot received a significant boost in the most recent 247 Sports updated rankings.

LSU football wide receiver commit Kylan Billiot is underrated no more

Not too long ago, LSU football gained a commitment from a relatively unknown wide receiver out of Houma, LA. At the time, he was rated as a three-star with an overall rating of 89.

However, as of Thursday afternoon, that’s a thing of the past. 247 Sports just released their newest rankings update, and class of 2024 wide receiver Kylan Billiot moved up in a big way.

He’s now rated a 93 and a high four-star. He also ranks as the No. 105 player in the country and the No. 3 player in Louisiana.

With this major boost, he’s now the second-best player in the LSU football recruiting class of 2024. He ranks just behind safety Dashawn McBryde, the No. 74 player in the country.

Recent performances in football camps assisted in rankings boost

It’s amazing what one weekend can do for someone. Earlier this month, Billiot took part in a camp hosted by LSU in Baton Rouge, and he shined.

Not only did he impress the coaching staff, but he impressed to the point that they offered him on the spot. He would later commit to the program just days later.

According to 247 Sports, this camp performance was a significant factor in his rankings update. His combination of size, speed and ball skills displayed incredible potential. Kylan Billiot is no longer underrated but is truly one of the best players in his class.

Here’s what Gabe Brooks of 247 Sports had to say regarding the big jump in rankings:

Billiot was a relative unknown until an excellent performance at LSU camp earlier this month. That’s when an investigation into his junior season and his athletic profile — which includes a 22.88-second sophomore 200-meter time, high-jumping reps, and promising basketball context — revealed what we believe is immense long-term developmental upside. Billiot times his jumps well in contested situations, knows how to put his body between the ball and the defender, and flashes impressive linear acceleration and run-after-catch ability for a taller, longer-built wideout. He puts his athleticism and frame to good use on the hardwood as well, where he provides a strong defensive presence and dynamic open-floor finishing ability. Billiot’s natural athleticism should only continue to manifest on the football field as he physically develops and technically improves.”
