LSU football recruiting has a rare luxury on its hands when looking ahead to the 2026 cycle. Within the top-100 recruits nationally, seven are from in-state Louisiana, meaning that coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers are just a short drive away from some of the very best prospects nationally. Still, it’s never a bad idea to continue recruiting outside of your own state, which is exactly why the purple and gold just reoffered five-star Georgia-based defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright.
LSU football recruiting offers elite Georgia-based defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright
As good as the LSU football recruiting class of 2025 already is, the 2026 cycle has the potential to be even better.
With seven in-state players ranked within the top-100 nationally, no one would blame coach Brian Kelly’s coaching staff if they focused almost solely on Louisiana-based recruits for the upcoming recruiting class.
Still, that’s not even close to the mentality they’ve had early on, as the purple and gold are going after some of the best players around the country. One such recruit is five-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright, who has officially landed a reoffering from the Bayou Bengals.
With new defensive line coach Bo Davis in charge, a slew of new offers have recently gone out to some of the best interior defensive linemen across the country. Naturally, it should come as little surprise that Perry-Wright – ranked as the No. 28 player in the class of 2026 by the 247Sports Composite – would be included on that list.
While slightly undersized – listed at 6-foot-2, 245 pounds – the Buford, GA, product is an outstanding prospect with incredibly high upside.
Interestingly enough, his smaller size actually works to his advantage, with elite athleticism and a quick first step, he’s able to rush past opposing centers and guards with relative ease. In many ways, his style of play reminds of a slightly leaner Aaron Donald.
As a sophomore for Buford High School, the five-star recruit made 13 appearances, recording 51 tackles and 7.5 sacks to go along with 13 quarterback hurries. This being just his second year on varsity, expect to see his numbers continue to increase at a pretty rapid pace heading into the 2024 season.
Along with the purple and gold, the programs which have been making the strongest push for Perry-Wright include Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Tennessee and most recently Oregon.
