The Tigersâ class of 2024 wonât play college football with each other for another year. Still, recent LSU football commit â and former Ole Miss commit â Joseph Cryer may have a leg up in that department as he and fellow commit Tylen Singleton already play high school ball together. That bond is already paying off for coach Brian Kelly, as Singleton may have played a significant role in his teammateâs commitment.
LSU football commit talks about recruiting his teammate from another SEC school
Some of the best recruiters out there are fellow recruits. This is especially true when said recruits are teammates in high school. That may have been exactly the case with current LSU football commits Tylen Singleton and Joseph Cryer.
Singleton first committed to the coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers on July 22, and he immediately put his recruiting glasses on. At the time, his Many High School teammate Joseph Cryer was committed to Ole Miss, an in-conference rival of his future team.
However, Singleton decided that wouldnât do and immediately went to the elite Louisiana offensive lineman. The opportunity to be teammates post-high school was simply too good to pass up.
âI mean, as soon as I committed, I called Joe, like, âJoe, theyâre gonna offer you.â And every day, I was talking to him, telling him about LSU,â Tylen Singleton told KALB Sports. âI was a key piece in him decommitting and committing to LSU.â
Looking back, itâs safe to say that the four-star linebacker couldnât have been more spot-on. LSU football would offer the three-star offensive lineman on July 26, which pretty much sealed the deal. Cryer was committed to the Tigers less than a week later.
The two future Tigers are ready to be teammates well into the future
With the current (and future) teammates committed to the same program, things look incredible for coach Brian Kellyâs squad.
When the Tigers added Singleton to their class of 2024, they not only gained a top Louisiana prospect, but he quickly became the Tigersâ top linebacker commit. Then, with the addition of Joseph Cryer, Kelly received his fourth offensive line commitment, just about finalizing the position group.
Even better, this adds an immediate level of brotherhood to the class. The current teammates appear close and have no intention of stopping. In fact, Singleton has been very open about his intention to room with Cryer their freshman year.
âThat was the reason why he decommitted from Ole Miss, just to come to LSU. Weâve already talked about it, weâre gonna dorm together and everything.â
LSU football currently has 22 commits in their class of 2024, but it doesnât appear that the Tigers are satisfied yet. They still have several big-name targets left on their board, including multiple announcing their college decision this week.
Keep an eye on this recruiting class as things continue into the future. Brian Kelly isnât done yet, and the Tigers could have one of the best groups in the entire country when things are all said and done.
