The 2024 college football season will undoubtedly be one for the books. Not only will it be the first year with an expanded college football playoff, but it will be the first year in which the SEC will lay claim to Oklahoma and Texas. Now, anticipation for the season continues to rise as the SEC has released its official 2024 opponents, and LSU football will host Oklahoma.
SEC opponents: LSU football will officially host Oklahoma in the 2024 season
What a world we live in! Texas and Oklahoma will soon be a part of the SEC. USC and UCLA will soon be a part of the Big Ten. Imagine hearing those words just five years ago.
Additionally, the SEC will be eliminating divisions for this season, shaking things up even more. The only thing keeping things from going off the rails is that they made sure to stick to traditional opponents (rivals) while emphasizing competitive balance.
What do these changes to the SEC opponents and schedule mean for LSU? Well, it means that LSU will officially host Oklahoma in 2024.
In these two historic programs’ histories, they’ve only played three times all-time. The Tigers lost to Oklahoma in 1949, beat them in 2003 and dominated the Sooners in 2019 in the College Football Playoff, 63-28.
