LSU football has caught fire on the recruiting trail. In the last week alone, the Tigers have received three commitments, including two defensive backs. Now, the Tigers sit at No. 6 nationally, per 247 Sports, as class of 2024 cornerback Ondre Evans commits to LSU football.

You couldnā€™t have scripted it much better. LSU football has been as hot as it gets on the recruiting trail the past week. Theyā€™ve now gained commitments from three players since Monday.

The most recent commit was class of 2024 cornerback Ondre Evans, a top-20 player at his position.

Evans, a four-star out of Nashville, TN, is listed as the No. 252 player nationally and No. 4 from his home state. With his commitment, LSU football has quickly collected one of the best defensive back classes in the country.

Ondre Evans is the sixth defensive back commitment for the Tigers

Coach Brian Kelly heard the fan baseā€™s concerns. Many worried about the defensive back room and their lack of depth over the last two seasons.

The concerns are no longer relevant as the LSU football secondary has quickly become a strength. In this class alone, five of their six defensive back commitments are four-star or better.

For fans of the program, this likely comes as a significant relief. LSU football has long been known to be the best at producing elite defensive back talent.

Legends like Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu are not only viewed as some of the best to come out of Baton Rouge but out of the entire country. Luckily, Brian Kelly understands how vital this aspect of the game is. Thatā€™s precisely why heā€™s made it a priority these past two cycles.

With the Tigersā€™ defensive back room as good as filled, Kelly can now shift his focus elsewhere. Positions such as running back and defensive line could still use some work as they have yet to gain any elite commitments at those positions.

Kelly came into this recruiting cycle with a plan. Heā€™s more than followed through, which is paying off thus far. Tigers fans have plenty of reason to be excited for the future, as coach Kelly looks more than up to the challenge of coaching for LSU football.
