Well, that certainly didn’t take long. Not even one full day following the second edition of the 2024 LSU football recruiting junior day, the Tigers have officially landed another big-time commitment in class of 2025 linebacker Charles Ross.

LSU football recruiting lands major blue chip commitment following junior day

And just like that, the hot streak has officially gotten right back on track for LSU football recruiting in the class of 2025. After a bit of a dead period during the month of February, coach Brian Kelly and the Tiger coaching staff wasted no time in getting back to the grind.

Among the many efforts they put in place included this weekend’s junior day, the second of the calendar year for the purple and gold. Interestingly enough, as they were set to host a bulk of the best players in the country, they knew it had the potential to be an excellent weekend overall. However, I’m not sure the coaching staff even knew just how good it would turn out to be.

Heading into the day, the biggest hole in the LSU football recruiting class of 2025 rested on defense, as just two of their nine total commitments were set to play on that side of the ball.

Luckily, it appears as though the tide is turning. On Saturday evening, not even a full 24 hours following the big junior day, the Tigers landed their third defensive commitment of the cycle, as class of 2025 linebacker Charles Ross announced his verbal commitment on Twitter.

Despite widely being viewed as a favorite to land with the Houston Cougars, his trip to Baton Rouge was enough to convince the Houston, TX, product to the point where he was ready to commit on the spot.

Ranking as the No. 263 player nationally and No. 27 among linebackers, according to On3, this already looks like an excellent pledge for the Tiger defense. Standing at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, he likely has some room to fill out his frame a bit, but when combined with his sub-11-second 100-meter dash speed, he shouldn’t have any issues translating to the next level.

Ross joins linebacker Keylan Moses and cornerback Jaboree Antoine as the only defensive commitments of the cycle thus far for LSU. He also marks the 10th overall commitment, only adding to an already elite No. 1 overall group in the class of 2025.
