Few programs in the country are better at producing elite NFL talent than that of the Bayou Bengals. Now, after starting the season with over 50 former Tigers in the league, only three remain in the hunt for a 2024 Super Bowl ring. Notably, with representatives on both the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs, no matter who wins tonight, at least one former LSU football player will have achieved the biggest prize in football.

The former LSU football player to the Super Bowl streak stays alive

Tonight, a six month long journey will officially come to a close. The 2024 Super Bowl is just hours away, and Tiger fans have every reason to be excited for it. For the 23rd year in a row, at least one LSU player will make an appearance in the biggest game in football.

The 2023 NFL season will come to close this evening, as the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs will face off in Super Bowl LVIII. The game will take place in Las Vegas, NV, and will be available to watch live on CBS at 5:30 p.m. CST.

As things stand, the 49ers appear to be the current betting favorite to come out on top, with the spread sitting at -1.5, according to FanDuel, with an over/under of 46.5.

As far as former Tigers are concerned, representatives are spread across both teams, as at least one former LSU football player has found himself on either the San Francisco 49ers or the Kansas City Chiefs.

Three former purple and gold players will be featured, as defensive lineman Neil Farrell and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire are on the Chiefs, while running back Ty Davis-Price is the lone 49er.

While none of said representatives have necessarily been prominent figures thus far in 2023, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is by far the most likely candidate to make an impact on the matchup. With 70 recorded carries on the year, he’s totaled 223 yards and a touchdown over the course of the season.

Regardless of who ends up coming out on top, Tiger fans have plenty to cheer for this evening. Not only is this the final football game of the season, but no matter the outcome in this 2024 NFL matchup, at least one former LSU football player will come away with the top prize in the entire sport.
