LSU football will keep Super Bowl streak alive in 2024

Now, as the 2024 NFL playoffs continue to move along, the LSU Super Bowl streak will officially stay alive. With a former Tiger on both remaining AFC rosters, the purple and gold will officially have representation in the biggest game in football for the 20th year in a row.

LSU football to keep 20-year Super Bowl streak alive in 2024

Another week, another appearance in the NFL playoffs for a former LSU football player. As coach Brian Kelly continues to prepare his team for the upcoming 2024 season in September, several former Tigers are still in the midst of their current season as they look for a Super Bowl ring.

Notably, this is nothing new for the purple and gold, as for the 20th straight season, LSU is guaranteed to have a former player in the Super Bowl.

This is not only a testament to the program as a whole, but also to the quality of player that Louisiana State University is able to continuously produce. Even more impressive is the fact that only one other program can make this same claim, as Georgia will also enter their 20th season with a representative.

As things stand, we’re just hours away from the start of conference championship weekend, as the Ravens and Chiefs will faceoff for the AFC, while the 49ers and Lions will take each other on for the NFC.

What and when to watch

To get things going for today’s version of the playoffs, the AFC Championship will take place at 2:00 p.m. CST at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD. The game will feature one of the most anticipated matchups of the season, as the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs will take on the electric Baltimore Ravens.

For Tiger fans, this is the game to watch, as four former LSU football players will be featured. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr and linebacker Patrick Queen will represent the Ravens, while the Chiefs have claim to running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and defensive tackle Neil Farrell.

For the primetime matchup, the NFC Championship is set to kickoff at 5:30 p.m. CST from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. This is a bit of a game of underdogs, as neither the San Francisco 49ers or Detroit Lions have won a Super Bowl this century. As a matter of fact, the Lions haven’t won an NFL Championship since 1957, prior the Super Bowl era.

Only one former Tiger will take part in this matchup, as 49ers running back Ty Davis-Price is the sole representative.
