One of the fastest people in the state of Louisiana also happens to be a stellar football player. Class of 2025 running back and four-star LSU football target Harlem Berry is about as good (and fast) as it gets. At the Under Armour Future 50 camp over the weekend, the talented recruit showed this off by running a blazing 4.37 40-yard dash.
Four-star LSU football running back target Harlem Berry has blazing speed
There are plenty of traits that make an elite running back. One of the most important is speed and shiftiness. Those are the kind of traits that allow you to make defenders miss without it taking a significant toll on your body.
For elite four-star LSU football target Harlem Berry, this is where he excels. His speed clearly shows while watching him on the field, but he decided to put a number to it over the weekend.
Berry participated in the annual fastest man competition at the Under Armour Future 50 camp. He went on to win the event with a time of 4.37 seconds in the 40-yard dash. For context, that time would have tied for third among all running backs at this past year’s NFL Draft Combine.
It’s important to note that Harlem Berry isn’t all speed. He’s also a more than willing blocker and pass-catcher. He even has enough strength to lay someone out with a truck if need be.
According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Berry is the No. 22 recruit nationally, the No. 1 running back and the No. 1 player out of Louisiana.
Where do the Tigers stand in his recruitment?
While it’s still incredibly early in the recruiting cycle, things are looking good for LSU football. As things stand, the Tigers are the overwhelming favorites to land Berry’s commitment.
On3 gives them a 98.8 percent chance of landing the elite running back recruit. 247 Sports, on the other hand, also has the Tigers as the favorite, with lead expert Steve Wiltfong giving him a crystal ball prediction to Baton Rouge.
If things continue to trend toward LSU football, coach Brian Kelly could get an elite talent in the class of 2025. The best players in Louisiana generally go to LSU, and there’s little doubt Kelly would love to keep Berry in-state with the Tigers.
