The recruiting class of 2024 has officially come to a close and recruiters all across the country have turned their attention to the 2025 cycle. Notably, in helping LSU to yet another top-10 group, offensive coaches Frank Wilson and Joe Sloan were some of the very best in college football.

Running backs coach Frank Wilson is building a monster of a running back room

When it comes to knowing and recruiting the state of Louisiana, very few can do it better than LSU running backs coach/associate head coach Frank Wilson.

With 20 years of college-level coaching experience in the state, it’s only natural that he’s one of the best with the connections he’s built. Having coached at Nicholls, McNeese and LSU, his footprint can be found just about everywhere you go.

In turn, when considering that the Tigers signed more than 15 recruits from in-state, his footprint also happens to be all over the class of 2024.

Along with many others, this is a big reason why he was most recently recognized as one of the nation’s 10 best recruiters, per 247Sports. Among the many recruits he helped to bring over to Baton Rouge are five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley and four-star running back Caden Durham, both of which figure to make an immediate impact.

Interestingly enough, it’s not only Louisiana where he excels as a recruiter. Durham is coming over from Duncanville, TX, while Wilson also played a major role in flipping four-star edge rusher CJ Jackson out of Georgia.

Being in charge of the running backs room for the purple and gold, Wilson will have a slew of elite running backs to work with, as veteran Josh Williams will lead the group, while young former four-stars Kaleb Jackson, Trey Holly and Caden Durham all have the potential to play a major role.

Quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan seemingly on the verge of taking over college football

Stock has never been higher for LSU quarterbacks coach/offensive coordinator Joe Sloan than it is right now. Coming off a season in which he helped to mold soon-to-be 2024 NFL draftee Jayden Daniels into a Heisman Trophy winner, he has the Tiger football program in a bit of a golden age at the quarterback position.

Now, with former four-star Garrett Nussmeier set to take over as starter, as well as several immediate impact pass catchers joining the program in the near future, the sky is the limit.

Notably, it’s not just the coaching that he’s particularly impressive at. When it comes to recruiting, he’s one of the best in the business.

Also ranked as one of the top-10 recruiters for the class of 2024, Sloan played a major role in landing several blue-chip recruits, including quarterback Colin Hurley and tight end Trey’Dez Green.

Additionally, with focus now shifting to the 2025 cycle, he already appears to be on fire heading into the future. While only landing one commitment so far, it just so happens to be the No. 1 player in the country, quarterback Bryce Underwood, so it’s safe to say things are off to a pretty decent start.

With so many excellent offensive recruiters already on staff, it’s time for the defensive side of the ball to take some steps forward. Keep an eye on defensive line coach Bo Davis and secondary coach Corey Raymond, as they’re already making big-time moves within the next couple recruiting cycles.
