While LSU football has taken up the bulk of recruiting news lately, don’t forget about coach Matt McMahon’s squad. The Tigers’ basketball program has been heating up lately, particularly in the class of 2024. Just recently, class of 2024 four-star power forward Nic Codie named LSU basketball as a finalist.

It would appear that we’re officially in finalist season, as LSU basketball has made the list of several top recruits recently. Adding to the list, four-star power forward Nic Codie released his top seven. Among them were none other than the Tigers.

The LSU basketball recruiting target is by far one of the top recruits in the class of 2024. According to almost every leading recruiting site, he’s ranked among the top 75, with On3 ranking him the highest at No. 38.

The 6-foot-8, 200-pound recruit can do just about everything for his team. He goes up strong for rebounds, is steady on defense, and can even shoot the three.

What he does best, however, is position himself for easy buckets under the basket. The class of 2024 four-star power forward has a knack for using body positioning and footwork to slip by defenders for easy dunks or layups.

While the LSU basketball program is officially a part of his list of top schools, it might be an uphill battle for coach Matt McMahon. Most of the Carrollton, TX, native’s top options are from his home state of Texas. As things stand, Texas, TCU and Houston could be the leading contenders, but proximity to Baton Rouge keeps the Tigers in contention.

LSU basketball has found plenty of success recently in the class of 2024. If the Tigers can find a way to land a commitment one of these days, it would do wonders for the rest of the cycle. Coach McMahon has his work cut out for him, but it’s certainly nothing he can’t handle.
