Any time you can get a top recruit on your respective campus, itā€™s fantastic news. It shows mutual interest and gives your schoolā€™s coaching staff an opportunity to show off everything they have to offer.

LSU basketball has that exact opportunity coming up later this month, as four-star Curtis Givens recently mentioned plans to visit Baton Rouge later this month.

Givens III is the No. 52 player nationally, according to 247 Sports. Heā€™s also the No. 10 player out of Florida and a top-five point guard nationally.

Along with the LSU basketball program, he plans to visit several other schools nationwide. Texas, Indiana, Villanova and his hometown Memphis Tigers are among his other visits.

Givens III could immediately take over the LSU basketball offense

One of the most important traits in a point guard is court vision. That, along with ball handling, can make or break your career in basketball. For Curtis Givens III, this couldnā€™t be less of an issue.

Heā€™s confident in what he does, allowing him to pass the ball with precision and score the ball practically at will. He has a smooth three-point shot, and while he doesnā€™t have the explosion some other guards might possess, his vision of the floor more than allows him to make up for it.

The main thing the impressive four-star likely still needs to work on is shot selection. Thanks to pure talent, heā€™s largely been able to get away with this at the high school level. Still, the college level is when shot selection begins to shine as either a strength or weakness.

If he can get shot selection sorted out and develop his explosiveness, he should continue to rise in the ranks. Heā€™s already one of the best guards in the country, and heā€™s nowhere near his true potential.

If coach Matt McMahon can work some magic during his visit later this month, it could be massive for the future of this program. Not only would it show his ability to recruit with the best of the best, but it would bring an exceptional talent into his program, which is looking to solidify its identity.
