Anything can happen in a rivalry such as that of LSU football vs. Auburn. While the Bayou Bengals might be the favorite, SEC analyst Takeo Spikes was confident enough to put them on upset alert heading into Saturday.

SEC Analyst Takeo Spikes predicts a win for Auburn vs. LSU football

In the history of LSU football vs. Auburn, it’s been a largely back-and-forth affair. No one truly knows what to expect when the two Tiger programs take to the field, which almost always leads to an exciting football game.

As a matter of fact, in the last seven meetings of the series, just one has been decided by more than five points.

Former Auburn linebacker Takeo Spikes understands how weird the matchup can be. During his three seasons with the Tigers, he beat LSU just once, but none of the games were decided by more than six points.

Naturally, while breaking down the 2023 edition of the rivalry for SEC Network, he likely had that history in the back of his mind, understandably so.

“This is a weird rivalry,” Takeo Spikes began. “They don’t call it a rivalry for nothin’, so this easily could be – maybe it could be an upset?”

Coach Brian Kelly’s squad currently rests as a pretty overwhelming favorite heading into Saturday. According to Vegas Insider, the Bayou Bengals are a -11.5-point favorite.

Even with the game being in Death Valley this weekend, there are no guarantees regarding LSU football vs. Auburn. Spikes said it best himself. It’s a weird rivalry; no matter who comes out on top, it’s bound to be a battle.
