One program’s loss is another’s gain. At least, this is likely what coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers hope to achieve with recent Michigan decommitment Chris Ewald. Notably, things are moving in the right direction to make it happen, as the talented class of 2025 cornerback will make his way to Baton Rouge for an early-March LSU football recruiting visit.
Recent Michigan decommitment locks in early-March LSU football recruiting visit
When a hard-hitting, ball-hawking, top-100 cornerback announces his decommitment from the reigning national champions, it’s a pretty fair assumption that plenty of programs will likely come calling.
For talented class of 2025 four-star Chris Ewald, relatively unsurprisingly, this happened to be exactly the case when he elected to reopen his recruitment in mid-January. Initially having committed back in December of 2022, his decision likely caught many by surprise, but with the current coaching turnover within the Wolverine program, it’s understandable.
Now, with 20+ offers heading into his senior season, Ewald will likely want to take his time before making another decision. In turn, this helps to explain his hefty list of visits coming up this spring, including one with none other than LSU football recruiting on March 9.
His trip to Baton Rouge will be the second visit out of five scheduled, as he’ll make his way to Miami on March 8, Auburn on March 19, Texas A&M on March 23 and Tennessee on April 6.
Rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 93 player nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more productive cornerback in the entire class of 2025. In three seasons with Chaminade-Madonna Prep, the Hollywood, FL, product recorded 100 tackles, 32 passes defended and seven interceptions.
Among his top offers include Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon and Texas.
Now, with an LSU visit just a matter of weeks away, look for coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers to make a strong push to try and pull the talented junior away from the Sunshine State.
