Just when you thought his stock couldn’t get any higher, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels has once again proved us wrong. Earlier this week, a former NFL quarterback began discussing the star signal caller as a potential No. 1 overall selection for the upcoming draft.
LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels receiving buzz as potential No. 1 NFL draft selection
Over the last few weeks, despite already being discussed as a top-15 selection towards the end of the 2023 college football season, LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels just continues to grow his stock as a potential NFL draft pick in 2024.
Most recently, the star signal caller began to see himself being mocked as the second overall selection to the Washington Commanders. At the time, it seemed as though he might have found his ceiling.
Afterall, former USC quarterback Caleb Williams has been receiving talks as the No. 1 selection to the Chicago Bears since last offseason. For many, he’s been the clear cut guy and it didn’t seem as though anything was likely to change that.
However, it seems as though that may have been wrong. Earlier this week, former Super Bowl XLVI winning quarterback David Carr spoke on NFL Total Access and had some major praise for the former Tiger.
“I like Jayden Daniels a lot. When I watch him on film, he’s so polished, he makes great decisions, he rips through his progressions. The kid’s fantastic. He’s a really good football player.”
As a part of the purple and gold, the 6-foot-4, 210-pound quarterback prospect threw for 6,725 yards and 57 touchdowns, while adding 2,019 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground. When considering he was able to amass those kinds of numbers in just two years, it’s no wonder so many NFL teams have fallen in love with his efficiency as a signal caller.
Daniels isn’t the only former Tiger to see some major boosting of stock recently. Wide receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr have both just about solidified themselves as first round talents, with Nabers consistently going as high as No. 6 overall to the New York Giants.
The 2024 NFL draft will take place a little over two months from now. It will go from Thursday, April 25 until Saturday, April 27 in Detroit, MI, and will be available to watch live on ESPN, ABC and NFL Network.
