Star LSU football offensive lineman and recent named Walter Camp Preseason All-American Will Campbell became the latest Tiger to earn the title of “Freak of the Week” this summer.

Preseason All-American Will Campbell named latest “Freak of the Week”

Named a Walter Camp Preseason All-American earlier this month, offensive lineman Will Campbell is getting set to play a major role in the LSU football offense for a third season in a row.

After coming out of high school as a five-star recruit and the No. 3 recruit in Louisiana, it didn’t take long for the 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive lineman to make his name known around Baton Rouge. Not only did he immediately earn the starting left tackle spot as a freshman, but he dominated in his role, pure and simple.

The scary part about it all? He’s only continued to work hard, and he’s only getting better.

Now officially listed at 320 pounds, the talented LSU offensive lineman was named the latest “Freak of the Week” this past week, making him the fifth Tiger to earn the honor this summer behind wide receiver Chris Hilton Jr, cornerback Ashton Stamps, cornerback PJ Woodland and defensive lineman Gabriel Reliford.

While the rising junior is undoubtedly still young, the talent that he possesses is some of the best in the entire country. As a matter of fact, the Monroe, LA, product has quickly turned himself into one of the top candidates to eventually become the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.

He, alongside fellow third-year starter Emery Jones Jr figure to lead the LSU offensive line into what could be a truly dominant 2024 season inside the trenches for the purple and gold. With four returning starters, experience is by far the biggest strength of the group, and starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has plenty to feel confident about heading into September.
