When it comes to the recruiting trail, LSU coach Matt McMahon isn’t one to stray away from being a bit more hands on. Notably, when it comes to class of 2025 top-30 recruiting target Hudson Greer, he’s one of just six coaches who have been in to see the elite forward this season.

As we look ahead to the 2024-25 college basketball season, LSU is already set to bring in two top-100 recruits, and coach Matt McMahon now has his eyes set on another for the upcoming recruiting cycle.

In the class of 2025, the Tigers have been high on several big-time recruits, but unfortunately it hasn’t led to any commitments – yet. With the college basketball season currently going on, it’s often difficult to place a significant emphasis on the recruiting trail.

Still, in the case of coach Matt McMahon, he’s more than happy to take some extra time out of his day. So far this season, he’s been able to visit multiple recruits, one of which is top-30 recruiting target Hudson Greer.

An elite small forward out of Austin, TX, Hudson Greer ranks as the No. 30 player nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite, as well as No. 1 in-state.

Standing at 6-foot-6, 190 pounds, he’s a solid shooter who’s more than capable of passing with either hand. Still, the thing he’s best known for is his eye-popping leaping ability, making him a threat anywhere near the rim both on offense and defense.

What makes him particularly intriguing as a prospect is his work ethic and overall will to improve. While he’s always been a capable finisher inside the paint, it’s his jump shot and ball control that has taken a particular jump over the last year or two.

With his size and all-around confidence on the court, he has some of the best potential in the entire class. Add in his two steals and one block per game, and it’s not hard to see why LSU coach Matt McMahon is so high on the top-30 recruiting target.

Along with the Tigers, it appears that Alabama, Arizona, Creighton, Oklahoma State and Texas are among the other big-time programs making a strong push for the talented small forward.
