Few schools in the country have found nearly as much success in recruiting the class of 2025 as coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers, especially of late. On November 30, the purple and gold landed a big-time commitment from four-star athlete Keylan Moses, and now are trending for several other elite recruits. Among said recruits is LSU running back target Harlem Berry, who just announced a new commitment date.
LSU running back target pushes commitment date back to January
A little over two weeks ago, four-star Louisiana athlete Keylan Moses announced his commitment to stay close to home and play for LSU in college. Upon committing, he made it abundantly clear that he wanted to bring some of the best talent with him for the Tiger class of 2025.
Lucky for him, several top recruits sit nice and close to him, as five of the top 250 recruits in the country are native to Louisiana. One of such recruits is big-time LSU running back target Harlem Berry, who up until today was set to make his final college decision on December 18.
However, this morning, news broke that the five-star Metairie, LA star has officially pushed back his commitment date to January 3, 2024. Notably, his decision will be broadcast live on ESPN at the annual Under Armour All-American game.
Berry ranks among the very best in the country, regardless of class. According to the 247Sports Composite, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound LSU running back target is the No. 16 player nationally, as well as the No. 1 player at his position.
Berry breaks down his top-three schools
As things stand, it appears that LSU, Texas and Florida are his top-three schools, initially announcing his finalists on November 13.
While coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers look like the early favorites, there’s little doubt all three schools will be pulling out all the stops for the five-star running back.
Following one of his recent visits to Baton Rouge, he took the time to discuss his commitment decision, and had some excellent things to say about the purple and gold.
“They love the speed, the vision, the shiftiness. Haven’t really had conversations about how they’d use me other than I know it’s based off personnel and how I play so that’s good to me,” Harlem Berry told Geaux247.
“LSU has a great program, always has been, always high and a lot of NFL draft picks that came out of there. I just feel they produce a lot and of course they’re gonna catch my eye and then it’s the home state school.”
He also hand some notes to share on his consideration of both Texas and Florida, saying, “Texas, when I went up there felt very welcoming and the environment out there was really good. Florida, obviously my uncle, coach Napier, just good out there too.”
With the priority class of 2025 Louisiana recruit scheduled to make his final choice over the coming weeks, this could turn into quite the photo finish.
