The LSU passing game has truly been historic in 2023. More specifically, quarterback Jayden Daniels and wide receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr put the nation on notice. In that group alone, they have the NCAA leader in passing touchdowns, receiving touchdowns and receiving yards. Now, the group has continued to add to its trophy case, as Daniels won the Davey O’Brien Award and the Walter Camp Award in tonight’s Home Depot College Football Awards show.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels – Davey O’Brien Award, Walter Camp Award
Quarterback Jayden Daniels is officially the 2023 recipient of the Davey O’Brien Award and the Walter Camp Award.
The LSU passing game proved to be nearly impossible to stop throughout 2023. With Daniels leading the charge, the group leads the country in passing efficiency, yards per pass and passing touchdowns. The star signal caller was elite, pure and simple.
What makes his accomplishments this season all the more impressive is the improvement he showed from even just one season ago. In his debut year with the Tigers, Daniels amassed 3,798 yards and 28 touchdowns, both of which were career highs at the time.
However, he wasn’t even close to getting started. This season, the 5th-year senior has been incredible, putting up numbers most can’t even dream of achieving.
So far, through 12 games, Daniels has amassed 4,946 total yards and 50 touchdowns. In turn, it should come as little surprise that he’s either been a finalist or winner for some of the most well respected awards in college football.
Following the regular season’s conclusion, the Tiger quarterback received honors such as the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award, the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, the AP Player of the Year, the SEC Offensive Player of the Year, and the AP SEC Offensive Player of the Year.
Jayden Daniels remains a finalist for various other esteemed awards, with the most notable being the Heisman Trophy. The winner will be unveiled in New York on Saturday, with the ceremony being broadcasted live on ESPN at 7:00 p.m. CST.
