The LSU football recruiting staff has put in some impressive work this summer, most recently offering current South Carolina class of 2025 linebacker commitment Jaiden Braker; maybe even flipping momentum away from their SEC foe in the process.
LSU football recruiting favored to flip class of 2025 linebacker from SEC foe South Carolina
When working through their class of 2025 recruiting board, Brian Kelly and his coaching staff have shown no hesitation when it comes to going nationwide in their hunt for some of the top players in the country.
With commitments from states such as Arkansas (OL Carius Curne), Florida (CB DJ Pickett, DL Brandon Brown, EDGE La Jesse Harrold), Indiana (EDGE Damien Shanklin), Michigan (QB Bryce Underwood), Mississippi (OL Tyler Miller) and Nevada (WR Derek Meadows), this isn’t a group that’s built purely through Louisiana and Texas, but rather, they’re simply looking for the best fits, regardless of where they may call home.
The best part about it is the fact that they aren’t even close to being done in that department. If anything, they may just be looking to add even more states to their growing list, most recently extending an offer to Georgia-based linebacker Jaiden Braker, who’s currently committed to play for the SEC foe South Carolina Gamecocks.
Officially listed as a 6-foot-4, 210-pound defender out of Snellville, GA, Braker is currently rated as a three-star recruit and the No. 44 linebacker in the class of 2025, according to On3.
While currently committed to make his way to Columbia, SC as a part of his recruiting cycle, it’s always important to remember that nothing is set in stone until pen hits paper on national signing day. In turn, with this recruitment specifically, the recent offer from coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers might have actually shifted some momentum.
Earlier Saturday morning, On3 recruiting experts Chad Simmons and Billy Embody both predicted the talented linebacker to ultimately flip his commitment from the Gamecocks to LSU football recruiting. Additionally, the Tigers now hold a hefty lead in the odds for his recruitment, holding a 91 percent chance at his pledge, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
As we enter the summer recruiting dead period for the class of 2025, things should slow down quite a bit in the coming weeks as far as recruiting news goes. With that said, the purple and gold certainly ended things on a high note, with the Bayou Splash over the weekend clearly leaving a positive mark on many of the top recruits in the country. If anything, it’s just a matter of whether or not the impression can hold strong through the rest of the cycle.
