The anticipation is rising in Baton Rouge! For some time now, Tigers fans have known they would be playing Florida State on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023, but not much else regarding their schedule has been public knowledge. That was, until today, when the official LSU football Twitter account announced the time and date of their week two and three matchups versus Grambling State and Mississippi State.

LSU football announces additional information on their 2023 season schedule

LSU football will play Grambling State on Sept. 9, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. CST. This will be the Tigers’ home opener, and it’s set to be a night game. While the game will be played on ESPN+ and SEC+, there’s no doubt that fans of the program will find any way possible to watch. With the game taking place later in the day, it will be an electric atmosphere.

It was also announced that LSU football will play at Mississippi State on Sept. 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. CST. The game will air on ESPN and should provide fantastic entertainment as it’s the Tigers’ SEC opener.

With weeks one through three announced for their schedule, LSU football fans can now begin to count down the seconds until they get to watch their team. This will be the first time fans have seen their team play any opposition since they blew Purdue out in the Vrbo Citrus Bowl, 63-7.

In coach Brian Kelly’s first season, the Tigers made it all the way to the conference championship, falling short to Georgia. There’s no doubt he’ll be looking to continue improving on his stellar first season with the program. Lucky for him, he has the roster to make it happen.

If LSU football can exit this initial three-game stretch undefeated, they’ll have a win over a top-10 team (Florida State) as well as an SEC rival (Mississippi State). Not a bad way to start the season.
