And so the defensive rebuild continues! Today, it was reported that coach Brian Kelly will bring on yet another Missouri defensive assistant coach, as former Mizzou defensive line coach Kevin Peoples will join the LSU staff ahead of the 2024 season.

Alabama will be welcoming in a new head coach after the retirement of Nick Saban. Auburn coach Hugh Freeze is entering just year two, while Texas A&M coach Mike Elko is entering his first year with the program. For many programs in the SEC, we’re entering quite a period of adjustment.

For Coach Brian Kelly, this just means an opportunity is on the way. So far this offseason, the Tiger head coach has made some serious moves, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. It’s clear that he understands, there’s no better time than now to step on the gas.

In his most recent move, it’s been reported that yet another Missouri defensive assistant coach will make his way over to Baton Rouge. After Blake Baker was brought on as defensive coordinator earlier this month, defensive line/edge coach Kevin Peoples is now set to join him.

Throughout his career, Peoples has spent extensive time working with defensive lines. Among his previous stops include Indiana, Tulane and most recently Missouri. While he’s most experienced with defensive line, it can be expected that he’ll spend more time with edge rushers when considering former Texas coach Bo Davis was just brought on as the new defensive line coach.

With today’s hire, this is just another big-time step in the right direction for coach Brian Kelly and the LSU defense. He joins defensive coordinator Blake Baker and defensive line coach Bo Davis as the most recent hires to join the Tiger staff.
