Despite the rapid pace having slowed down significantly over the last few weeks, the transfer portal is still going at full force. Notably, LSU is set to host big-time Liberty transfer portal wide receiver CJ Daniels for a visit this weekend.
Liberty transfer portal wide receiver CJ Daniels to visit LSU this weekend
While depth may not exactly be a concern for LSU and their pass catchers, it’s never a bad idea to keep an eye out for potential talent acquisition. This is especially true when you consider the Tigers are losing their top two wide receivers – Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr – to the NFL this offseason.
To help remedy the loss, coach Brian Kelly is bringing in several top talents at the position, including one transfer and three freshmen. Furthermore, he’s not done yet, as Liberty transfer portal wide receiver CJ Daniels will visit Baton Rouge this weekend.
Set to arrive on Friday, very few portal players compare to the talent of Daniels’. Ranking No. 29 nationally and No. 4 among wide receivers, according to 247Sports, Daniels has come a long way from his two-star rating coming out of high school.
A product of Lilburn, GA, Daniels burst on the scene in 2023, recording a career-high 55 receptions for 1,067 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season. Standing at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, he has solid size and electric playmaking ability, making him an interesting prospect as a future NFL player.
While he hasn’t exactly ruled out returning to Liberty, a potential transfer is likely tied to him thinking about his own future. If he manages to take a step forward with a big brand in 2024, that alone could boost his stock significantly.
This also makes sense when you consider the other schools in contention for the high four-star transfer. Along with coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers, Auburn, Florida and Texas remain in pursuit of the talented Liberty pass catcher.
