After landing four commitments over the last four days, LSU football recruiting took a bit of a step back today, as top Louisiana-based cornerback Jaboree Antoine announced his decommitment from the purple and gold.

Top Louisiana-based defender Jaboree Antoine decommits from LSU football recruiting

Four-star cornerback Jaboree Antoine first announced his commitment to coach Brian Kelly and LSU football recruiting on January 27 ā€“ nearly six full months ago.

Naturally, the Louisiana-based defender was welcomed in with open arms, but relatively unsurprisingly, his pledge to the Tigers didnā€™t exactly deter opposing programs from continuing their pursuit of the talented defensive back.

In turn, Antoine notably continued taking visits to other schools, including blue bloods such as Florida State and Miami, with his most recent trip having been to the Seminoles just over a week ago.

Unfortunately for the purple and gold, it appears that these trips have made him reconsider some things within his recruitment, announcing his decommitment from the Tigers earlier this evening.

While itā€™s never ideal to lose one of your top recruits, itā€™s important to keep in mind that coach Brian Kellyā€™s squad isnā€™t completely out of it just yet. Within his decommitment post, he made sure to add in the fact that heā€™s still considering the LSU football program, as well as Florida State and Miami.

Officially listed at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Antoine currently ranks as the No. 61 player nationally, according to On3, as well as No. 6 among fellow cornerbacks.

With todayā€™s decommitment from the New Iberia, LA product, the Tigers are down to just three defensive pledges, with four-star linebacker Charles Ross headlining the group. Even so, the class as a whole still ranks among the very best in the country, sitting at No. 2 overall and No. 1 in the SEC.
