Coach Brian Kelly went into the 2024 offseason with a bit of a goal in mind. In revamping the entire defensive coaching staff, the Tigers began a hefty rebuild of the purple and gold defense. In turn, they’ve also been pursuing some of the top talent for the LSU football recruiting class of 2025, most recently offering Indiana-based edge rusher Mariyon Dye.
LSU football recruiting offers class of 2025 Indiana-based edge rusher
Despite possessing somewhat of a struggling defense as a whole, the LSU edge rusher position has found some significant success over the past few seasons.
Some names of note include BJ Ojulari, who totaled 16.5 sacks in three years with the program and Harold Perkins Jr, who has already amassed 13 sacks in just two seasons. Now, the new Tiger defensive coaching staff is on the hunt for their next great pass rusher.
Most recently, LSU football recruiting took to the class of 2025 recruiting trail and offered big-time Indiana-based four-star Mariyon Dye.
Dye – a four-star edge rusher out of Elkhart, IN – ranks as the No. 47 player nationally, according to On3, as well as No. 5 at his position and No. 1 in the state of Indiana.
Listed at 6-foot-6, 235 pounds, Dye undoubtedly has some impressive size, but he’s also found a way to make an impact in limited time on the field over the last two seasons. As a defensive end for Elkhart Central High School, the newest LSU football recruiting offer totaled 61 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks and three fumble recoveries in 14 appearances.
With his most recent offer, the four-star edge rusher has added to an already impressive list of offers. Among the current programs to have shown interest are Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State.
With upcoming visits to Georgia, Miami, Ohio State and Tennessee lined up for the near future, LSU has some catching up to do with this recruitment. Still, with the new coaching staff making a strong push for some of the best recruits in the country, it’d be wise to not count out the Tigers quite yet.
