Things are heating up in the 2023 Heisman Trophy race. Heading into this week, it appeared to be a four-man race, between LSU football quarterback Jayden Daniels, Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr, Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr and Oregon quarterback Bo Nix. However, after Daniels’ big-time performance vs. Georgia State, we have a new favorite to win the annual award.

LSU football quarterback Jayden Daniels the Heisman favorite

Since coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers dropped their third game of the season against Alabama, any chances at a Heisman Trophy winner or a College Football Playoff berth looked slim at best.

However, LSU football quarterback Jayden Daniels wasn’t done yet. In fact, it appears as though he knew the odds were against him and worked even harder to make something happen for his team.

Since the loss in Tuscaloosa, the star Tiger quarterback has essentially done whatever he wants. In the last two games, he’s recorded 1,115 yards and 13 touchdowns while completing 75 percent of his passes. For context, eight of those touchdowns alone came against Georgia State yesterday.

In turn, with performances like those, he’s slowly won over the country and has quickly become a favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.

According to the updated odds on DraftKings, LSU football quarterback Jayden Daniels is the new leader, sitting at +110 to win the award. However, there’s still plenty of football left to play, and there are no guarantees in this sport.

Oregon quarterback Bo Nix is still right on his tail, with +120 odds. Additionally, Michael Penix Jr remains an outside contender at +550.

The Tigers continue their push for a second straight double-digit win season this Saturday, November 25 at 12:00 p.m. vs. Texas A&M at Tiger Stadium. If Daniels wants any chance at the Heisman, a win against the Aggies is a must-have.
